SAN DIEGO - November 18, 2022 - The San Diego Workforce Partnership is funding training provided by MedCerts, an online training provider for in-demand healthcare and information technology careers. There are two new cohorts starting on November 17, 2022 and January 12, 2023 to train individuals to be pharmacy, medical office or patient care technicians. The trainings are free – for those who qualify, which includes displaced workers – or low-cost, with some costing as little as $2,000 (two-thousand) to complete.

The upcoming training cohorts for pharmacy technicians begins November 17, 2022. The training cohort for patient care technicians and medical office technicians begins on January 12, 2023. Registration is open for both but participants must register by December 15.

According to a report produced by the Workforce Partnership and funded by the County of San Diego,18,500 behavioral health professionals need to be trained and hired in San Diego by 2027. The Workforce Partnership has up to $4 million in Workforce Innovation Opportunity (WIOA) training funds to spend this year to help people obtain the skills needed to pursue in-demand jobs. The funds also help remove barriers for those seeking a high-quality career. “MedCerts is an established leader in providing training and certifications for a variety of healthcare jobs,” says Peter Callstrom, San Diego Workforce Partnership CEO. “Through these trainings, we’re able to help jobs seekers break into the healthcare industry and create pathways for long-term careers.”

MedCerts has trained over 55,000 individuals seeking careers in allied health and has partnerships with several online universities where credit from training count as units toward a related degree. “MedCerts not only trains people for well-paying jobs, but we open a pathway to a rewarding healthcare career where a person can grow and advance,” said Craig Sprinkle, CEO of MedCerts.
